"Do Maslow's friends like gold?" Ser Jaymes asked pleasantly. "I'm sure you like gold Maslow, there will be some for all if your friends will speak with me about swords."

"They will speak 'bout anything for the right price," Maslow snorted.

"Take me to them then, Maslow, if you would," Ser Jaymes said.

Maslow merely grinned and pointed to the far corner of the tavern, where three men in dark clothing sat close together, silent and observing.

Ser Jaymes thanked him, and flipped coin into the bartender's hand, and walked toward the corner where the men sat. A dozen yards away a group of men were throwing knives at a board in the wall, making a contest of it. One man, shorter than the rest, was competing, although he had repeatedly had to hand over lost stakes to the other players. "Maslow tells me you know of swords, for the right price," Jaymes said bluntly to the men, sitting down at a conveniently empty table next to theirs.

"Which sword?" the short man question, immediately interested and suspicious.

"It's called Red Rain," Ser Jaymes said. He studied the short man who had spoken but his face was impassive.

"I know nothing of that name," the short man replied, frowning. He turned and translated the conversation to his friends, who merely shrugged and nodded in agreement.
"What is it's story?" the short man asked, turning back to Jaymes.

"Long ago it was stolen from it's rightful owners, and held by pirates, passed down through the generations. Eventually one of those pirates was made a lord for a service to the king of westeros, and passed that title down as well as the stolen sword. It was rumored that the bearer of the sword recently died in this city, and I hope to retrieve it," Ser Jaymes said to the men.

"I know nothing of history," the short man admitted. He was about to give up before translating to his friends, who in turn asked a question of Jaymes. The short man turned to relay it. "My friend wishes to know who the man was. That died in the city, recently."

"Hacke," Ser Jaymes spat the word out, like it was a curse. "Lord Something Hacke. By all accounts a surly barbarian."

The three men conversed for quite a while, then turned back to Jaymes. "A sword we know not of, but there was a Hacke here recently. However, he was executed by one of the Good Master's a fortnight ago."

"Executed... I am sure that Hacke had his sword, so the Good Master must have taken it from him and killed him for whatever reason. Good Masters are the traders of slaves, yes?" Jaymes asked the man. A slave trader would have little use for a single sword like that, he would likely sell it. To who though, Astapor was an enormous city. Perhaps blacksmiths in the city might know of such special steel changing hands.
Ser Jaymes passed several more gold coins into the short man's hand. "And you are sure you know not of the sword?"

The short man smiled and turned back to his friends, but shrugged apologetically. "I know of no sword this Hacke man had."

"One last question; where might I find a skilled blacksmith in Astapor?" Jaymes asked, a little dissapointed.
