Joshua had just finished a sparring session in the yard with Stannis, walking away with a thin coat of sweat covering his body. They had sparred a lot recently, and Joshua felt more and more confident with his swordsmanship ability.
The training yard was filled with men and noise, as the men of Royce's Army sparred and grappled. He had noticed that the same young boy had been with Pryor personally. Not many children got that grace from a lowly knight, and this young, unknown boy was getting trained by Ser Pryor. Joshua was surprised at the ferocity of the boy, and his quick movements. Had he not been so small, he would be a very deadly fighter, even for grown men.
Arriving at his tent, Joshua fell to his bed, and closed his eyes almost immediately, his muscles sore, and his eye lids falling. He slipped into Aegis almost naturally.
He was soaring. His wings caught the wind perfectly, as he glided through the air. He was far from the camp, though ahead, he could see a mass of beings. More humans..? he thought, flying forwards, as their numbers expanded in front of him.
It was the Riverland's Armies massing. Looking to the North and South, Aegis spotted clearings and a handful of hills very suitable of defensive positions, that the Rivermen would no doubt take up. It would make advancing very difficult, Joshua thought, through Aegis.
Circling above those hills, Aegis looked for any means of penetrating them, and found it. Between two of the hills, stretched a stream, hidden by trees. It was caught from the view of the hills, and large enough for a small band of cavalry to stalk through. To the North of the Northern most hill, there was a elevation of land that stretched for a while, before falling again. By taking that stretch of land, they could cancel any advantage the Rivermen would have, while at the same time advance them closer. It was very hard finding a suitable means of reaching the stretch of land, though it was found eventually.
A small slope lead up, where a large force could climb, far enough from the mass of the Riverlands to go unnoticed, yet formidable enough to take the first hill, and giving them a gate into the Heart of the Army. Slipping out of Aegis and sighing, Joshua passed into sleep.
Meanwhile, Gawain was busy in the yard with his new master. The man was kind enough to him, and gave him most whatever he needed, though he did not know why. All he was asked to do was train, and so he did.
Taking up his sword yet again, Gawain pushed with all the endurance he could muster. With one hand, he was to carry a jug of water, and fight his master with the other, sword in hand. If he were to spill a drop, he would surely fail.
Dancing around, though careful not to spill a drop, Gawain attacked left, right, and center, though could not hope to pass Pryor's defense. From time to time he got a whack of the arm, or leg with the flat of his master's sword, and a short verbal lesson from Pyror, which he listened to carefully. He was getting better, and hadn't spilled a drop.
After a long time of what seemed like the hardest training he had gone through, he and become over aggressive and tried to slip an attack past Pryor's guard, barely missing him, as his sword slid through his master's underarm, and received a sharp whack on his Jug Arm. Clenching his teeth and trying not to straighten his arm, he struggled deftly to keep all the water in the jug. Concentrating hard, he kept the jug still, though when he looked back, his master's sword was in his face.
"Good. Though you are dead," he said, flicking his sword a little, and smiling. "We will continue on the morrow," he finished.
Joshua advances to 60 Wargging(+5) and to 72 Battle Strategy(+2).
Gawain advances to 77 Swordsmanship.(+2)
