///////////////////////////////////////// The ship commissioned by Lord Tarly makes port in Tyrosh, having sailed from King's Landing. The four men walk down the gangway onto the peir. "Sers, explore the city. Find out if any men are looking for work by the sword, although make sure they know they will not be paid until we acquire a contract. Maester, with me, if you will," he said, walking down toward the city proper.

Derik follows Lord Tarly. The excitement of finally approaching the lands he's dreamed of since his childhood is making him feel curiously giddy. "Any hint on where we're headed my lord?"

ooc: I'm going to say that Tarly and this maester know each other, at least relatively well, and that Samuel feels more comfortable around him than either of the other two.
"Maester, why do you believe that we are here?" he asked, as the two left the harbor behind.

Maester Derik looks around to make sure no one else is listening. "I imagine we are investigating the free Cities and the lands beyond to discern any possible threat to the safety of Westeros and Braavos, my lord. Perhaps also to discover who ordered our," he looks around yet again, "king assassinated in his own bed on his own wedding night with a new Targaryen bride."

"Astute as ever, my old friend, and that is what I need you for. Find out everything you can about the Targaryens while we are in Tyrosh, you possess skills that I do not for finding information. Learn what you can, while myself and the knights attempt to recruit some sellswords," he said to the older man.

As Maester Derik absorbs these words, he comes to the conclusion that perhaps the best place to start for him would be in a more academic setting, and keeps a close eye out for any places of learning where his upbringing will enable him to go where his three companions could not. "Keep an eye open Lord Tarly, for it is said that the Dragonking's reach is long. I will do my best to uncover some information that may be of use to us."

"Watch your own back, my friend. Meet me back at the harbor by dusk, we'll find an in to spend the night. I don't want to remain in Tyrosh for any longer than we have to."
